The Center for Community Development helps low to moderate-income individuals and families become first-time homebuyers. This is done by rehabilitating existing older homes and building newly constructed homes in neighborhoods that are in need of revitalization.

CCDI has been a catalyst for the revitalization of more than 90 homes within the City of Portsmouth, and will continue to construct/renovate 10-15 homes each year.

Perspective homebuyers must:

Meet specific guidelines to qualify for home ownership;
Work with CCDI to clear up any existing credit problems;
Attend VHDA home ownership classes, which help buyers prepare for the responsibilities of home ownership.

CCDI continues to expand this important revitalization effort to neighborhoods in Portsmouth as well as other cities throughout Hampton Roads.
